I suppose that on reboot, the pi sees the line, and goes "Do I have this codec installed ? If not, I have to install it (which is located on or somewhere else) if the licence number fits with the serial number". I would like to have a confirmation on how this actually does what we expect. pberry-pi/, simply consists in adding a line to the /boot/config.txt file.
Lastly, the installation protocol described here for example. In any case, if the VC-1 codec (or its WVC1 implementation if I understand well) is freely available for some mediaplayers (like vlc), why isn't it implemented in omxplayer? And why is it not free to install this codec on RPi ? Thus, isn't the VC-1 codec "OpenSource" itself? But then, VLC, which is a free OpenSource soft, can decode VC-1.

Don’t type in the entire string provided for you by Raspberry Pi, leave off the leading decodeMPG2 and decodeWVC1 portion. After having set the GPU_mem to 128M, I tried again, and it was no better. There you can click on MPEG2 and VC1 and input your license number. The VC-1 codec specification has so far been implemented by Microsoft in the form of 3 codecs, each identified with a unique. However, omxplayer, can't seem to be able to read a particular video. I'm kind of a newb here, and recently figured out how to stream movies from my desktop pc('s shared folder) to the pi, and redirect that to my TV, which is great.
